Enjoy the daytime route
Exit at "5. Motomachi Exit" and head towards Yokohama Motomachi Shopping Street.
Motomachi is full of delicious lunch options. After lunch, we walked up the steep Omarudanizaka slope near Ishikawacho Station to Yamate Italian Garden.
Yokohama Yamate has been watching over the history of the opening of Yokohama Port as a foreign settlement. Within the Yamate Italian Garden, along Yamate Hondori Street, there are Motomachi Park and Harbor View Park, where you can find seven Western-style buildings, including Bluff No. 18 and Berrick Hall, all of which can be visited for free.
"Christmas Around the World 7: The Sparkling Tale of Yamate Hill" is being held in seven Western-style buildings until December 2024, 12.
Two of the Yokohama Yamate Western-style buildings (Ehrisman House in Motomachi Park and Yamate No. 2 Building in Minato-no-Mieru Park) also have cafes (the cafe at the Diplomat's House is currently closed for repairs). There are also stylish cafes dotted along Yamate Hondori, so why not take a break during your walk?
This park is located on a small hill overlooking Yokohama Port, and is located at a great viewpoint overlooking Yokohama Bay Bridge. The English Rose Garden is one of the most famous rose spots in Yokohama. In addition to the Yokohama City British House and Yamate No. 111 Building, which are part of the Yamate Western-style Buildings, there are many other things to see, such as the Minato no Mieru Oka song monument, the commemorative panel for the Ghibli film "From Up on Poppy Hill," and the Osaragi Jiro Memorial Museum. Please also refer to the following for a route down the hill.
In Yamashita Park, in addition to Yorunoyo's "Hoshi no Ki," various events are held, including the skating rink "Winder Wonder Park Yokohama."
For more details, please see Playing with Light in Yamashita Park (Park Map).
From the observation deck of Yokohama Marine Tower, you can enjoy Yorunoyo's "Highlights of Yokohama" along with the music played in the building. You may even be able to see the "Light Whale" (projection mapping) swimming in Yamashita Park.
Developed as a settlement for traders after the port of Yokohama was opened, Chinatown is now one of the largest in the world, with over 500 stores. It is a gourmet spot where you can enjoy Chinese cuisine from all over China to your heart's content.
